PNC Financial Services (PNC) is expected to report Q3 earnings before market open Thursday, October 16, with a conference call scheduled for 9:00 am.

Guidance

Analysts are looking for EPS of 88c on revenue of $1.82B. The consensus range for EPS is 47c to $1.35, while the consensus range for revenue is $1.60B to $2.04B, according to First Call. There are a number of reasons for PNC Financial Services investors to be somewhat optimistic. Earlier this week, the managing executive of investments at PNC Wealth Management told Barron's, "We are far exceeding our targets in terms of the number of new clients."

Analyst Views

Meanwhile, Ladenburg's Richard Bove last month identified PNC as one of several banks that he believes will probably emerge from the credit crisis with added strength. The bank was recently identified by the Wall Street Journal as one of several potential buyers of National City (NCC).
