An Overpopulated Solid-State Drive Market Won't Spur Much M&A [view article]
Perhaps the author was in too much of a hurry to thoroughly research the current state of SSD, but there IS one company with a definitive lead in both performance and implimentation.

STEC's Zeus drives have been used by EMC for the enterprise market this entire year. Also, STEC's MLC-based SSD's are reportedly populating Apple's MacAir.

Bottom line... Should STX (who needs it most, imo) or some other large company want to buy the lead in SSD technology, STEC could make an outstanding acquisition.

Actually stocks will eventually correct 70%. If at the bottom, the ones that do not go out of business will be great buys. Which ones? Only the Shadow knows Reply

Does anyone honestly think Las Vegas, the world's largest resort combine is just going to disappear? Then let me sell you some vacant land on Mt. Everest. This is a golden opportunity to accumulate LVS MGM, Boyd and Wynn shares at fire sale prices. If that wasn't enough, add Macau, the largest gambling mecca in the world which is frosting on the cake.

With you on the SOX rally. AMD looking great here, especially if it can bust through $6. Dirt cheap calls, too; this stock seems to be running under the radar here. I had some SEP 5 calls move up 250% for me in just a couple weeks. BTW, I don't know if he's reversed himself, but Cramer did call for a fall tech rally a week or so ago. I rarely watch him but did see him make the case for a strong seasonal rally here. Words to the effect of "You buy techs in the fall when business looks horrible and sell them in the spring when business looks great." Reply

papita, that's unwarranted hostility, borne of apparent blindness (or just ignorance). The article exhibited both data and analysis. Or did you simply read the headline and skip down here to poop out a pithy comment? Reply

As a WFR shareholder i must say this is comforting news. These guys have been beaten up bad and my research has led me to the conclusion that there is no reason to sell. Investors soured on WFR because it wasn't able to handle the huge influx of business it's receiving.. get it? the stock is cut down because there is too much business!
Now if this were a high flying company with a high P/E, it would make sense to figure they won't be able to grow as fast as was expected, but WFR has a P/E of 16..
This is more proof that wall street institutions have simply lost touch with the street. I used to have respect for these guys but it's become so technical, you can't see the company from all the shenanigans they try to pull.
I for one am happy wall street bankers are loosing their jobs and going to jail.. they robbed us blind and left our tax dollars to clean up their mess - they need to do time.
