  • The Contemporary Art Bubble and Money Managers
Since the article is about contemporary art, perhaps we could leave out baseball cards and rare books? Prices go up and down in all art, just as with gold, stocks etc. but I haven't heard of any fire sale of Jackson Pollock, DeKooning, Warhol or Jeff Koons. Like some (equally) famous banks, car or mining companies for example. The less famous - well, compare it to penny stocks. In the meantime, you can always enjoy the art ...

  • Direxion Ups the Ante with 3X International, U.S. Tech ETFs
IF it is indeed true, that these 3X ETFs help create these irrational last minute spikes in the markets, and these effects increase, it will, I believe, keep all the so called retail or small investors permanently out of the market.
For to me, it just "smells wrong" here. It will become one more nail in the public's already severely bruised confidence in Wall Street and eventually in the whole idea of investing in the stock market. Can we, our society, really afford this concept of "it's a free world so I can do whatever I want to and to hell with you!"?

  • $25 Oil Could Happen Before a Return to $100
I wonder if we are soon making as much fun over the bloke who said oil is going to $25 as we now do to Picken's $150 or the GS analyst's $200/bbl?
At the same time everyone I read and hear say it is impossible to know the future of the price of oil. There are just too many variables. Then Isn't it highly irresponsible to throw out such "crying fire in a crowded theatre" pronouncements?

  • OPEC and Production Cuts: Why Now's the Time to Buy
Excellent clear thinking backed up with (hopefully reliable?) facts.
My question: Why do you prefer BP to other integrated oil companies?

  • Faith Doesn't Cut It - Cramer's Mad Money (8/29/08)
J C in the BS fiasco reminds me of a certain other fast-talker who "didn't inhale" or very thoughtfully explained "it depends on what you mean by..."
Since I don't watch JC anymore, I don't know if he apologized. ?
I also know there are many financial advisers and bloggers out here on the www. Would SA consider a survey or poll of them amongst us?

That's quite a surprise! Why the huge increase in gas? Do you think the same would happen again IF we had similar storms [as might be building with Gustav and others]?
