Jobless Rate Soars to 14-year High of 6.5 Percent, GM reports $2.5B 3Q loss, says running out of cash, Ford announces $129M 3Q loss, burns $7.7B in cash, Talks of GM and Chrysler bankruptcies, Pending home sales fell 4.6 percent in September with no end in site for the housing demise, admission by Federal Reserve that we are definitely in a recession and getting worse, etc.

Looks like most people are selling. Why? Could it be related to the fact that if you check DWS website for the obscure location of the funds current holdings over 50% are in 3yr, 5yr, 7yr, 10yr Libor Swaps. I'm not sure what that should be doing in a REIT portfolio.

Can someone explain to me why the last published data on SRO showed over 50% of the fund invested in 5yr, 7yr, 10yr Libor Swaps

Wells Fargo (WFC) will become the largest U.S. bank by branches with its bid for Wachovia (WB), after Citigroup (C) withdrew from compromise negotiations late yesterday on concerns about the quality of some of Wachovia's assets. Wells Fargo, with a bid valued at $11.4B, expects the purchase to be completed by the end of the year, and denies it will have to absorb assets shakier than originally thought. As the financial crisis continues to worsen, the U.S. government is considering two dramatic steps to turn around, or at least slow, the damage: guaranteeing billions of dollars in bank debt and temporarily insuring all U.S. bank deposits.
