"Only" 31 died as a result of Chernobyl.

Why would anyone listen to one who makes a statement like that? The collateral damage is still going on and it's cost in suffering (and money for those who think that's the best measurement) is too large to ignore.

Is this article the result of research or self serving cherry picking of facts that the author feels support his position? At best, a twisted point of view.

Right on Tony - This is the first time I realized your references to our history is a vote of confidence rather than some kind of rant about why things are wrong...

Timing is everything. If you hold off submitting your column you are still waiting to be right. It's kind of like " I WOULD have told you so."

Burst Bubble? Commodities' Long-Term Story Remains Intact
The one sentence that is absolutely true:

"I don’t know where the story goes next from here."

The most detailed analysis may indicate the most general of trends, but bottoms? tops? futures?

All of history can not tell the story of today nor foretell tomorrow.

Market Outlook: Watch Out, the Signs Can Be Deceiving
Predictions are easy - however, even when correct, no one believes. If one could truly predict the markets why spread the info? I fear a sage or oracle will invest then divulge thereby profiting from their claim re: the future.

Tony, Tony, Tony - you are full of pith...your listing of historical events is like saying "the sky is blue" --- how often do you have to say it and what purpose does it serve?

The Fed Is Still Behind the Curve
All actions of the FED are secondary to the purpose of preventing riots in the street by instilling confidence in the market. The appearance of an orderly market is paramount.

      Alan Greenspan Loses His Mind
Hindsight is easy (to paraphrase sammyg123) - It is the future with which we should be concerned. The FED's intervention is solely to assist in maintaining CONFIDENCE in the system. As such, it is reactionary to the mood on the street. However, just like a hostage negotiator, there is no way to consistently defuse situations where emotions run high.

Did the Fed's Move Prevent a Stock Market Panic?
Why am I not convinced that intervention works? At best, it appears to be a delaying tactic that spreads the pain over an extended period of time. At worst, it masks the pain somewhat while the patient dies.
