When and Why We Bought the Financial Sector
The foreclosed homes are in Michigan. Still, I'm with you on the financials, and will continue to pick up a little more here and there.

Close enough for me, anyway. Quick prayer of thanks that I never remembered to buy BSC... and that I did remember to get more JPM when they were low... and that I got some for the kids when it was even lower!

Financial Stocks: Where Will They Go Once Investors Sober Up?
Looking back 15 years or so, when things crashed, I see where I got my inheritance. It was when my parents bought financials when they were way down, and they rode through the muddy parts, and the financials came back up, higher than before. Perhaps it was the particular stocks. Perhaps it was a glitch in the works. Maybe I just got lucky. But for now, I'll follow their example. You can all moan and groan, but since I don't need to spend the money now, the value is improving daily. I'm already ahead of the game and am starting to spread around a little. I'm tired of listening to everyone whine.

The Fed's One and Done Cut - Fast Money Recap (4/25/08)
Other rumor mills say the Fed won't cut at all this time. Personally, although the rate cuts are helping some people, they are killing my CDs and money market funds. I've reduced those to the minimum, and have invested the balance in some stocks that have been doing better, but in the meantime my available cash is depleted. I can't wait until the rate cuts are over and we're back on the upward track.

There Is Plenty to Fear in This Market
Well, there's one sure way to find the bottom. Everyone just sell. Sell it all, everything you have, get out of the market, dump the stocks and get out. Pretty soon, we'll find that bottom. Sound drastic? It is. Stupid, too. Those who are IN when the bottom is reached will make more afterward. Those who wait until they're sure we aren't going down the tubes... will make less.

What Happens If Microsoft Walks Away from the Yahoo Deal?
Visualize Yahoo and the blue screen of death... take that either way, since no one really knows which will happen. In fact, maybe both will do fine separately, or maybe they would do well together. Just visualize...

Confusing Volatility With Risk - A Costly Investment Mistake
I like the small cap value stocks. I have some investments in the stable stocks and funds, but those aren't nearly as much fun. It's the small cap values that make me head to the charts to see how much money I've made today... and grin!

Insider Trends in the Financial Sector
I think when ETFC gets up to $6, I'll get more. As for JPM, WB, C - I've gotten a bit more in the last couple months, when they were lower. My IRA isn't looking so bleak anymore.

      Will eBay Sell Skype?
Personally, I don't care WHO has Skype, as long as they support the equipment. If they're not going to do that, none of it's worth going for. To get DSL, you need a regular phone line. If you're going to pay for the phone line you might as well use the phone. If they cut the price of the line (to just what is needed for the DSL), for those who prefer using Skype, it might not be a bad deal.

The Global Agricultural Boom: No Bubbles Here
Yes, people do have to eat. But as I increasingly say when I find a food product (or group of products) with what I consider unreasonably high prices, "I don't have to eat THAT." I also increasingly say, "I don't have to eat THAT MUCH of that." So yes, we can buy less, and differently, and that will affect the prices.

As for fertilizer, people grew food and raised food before without all that fertilizer. In fact, those that raised food (animals) used the byproducts (waste) as fertilizer. Recycling at its best.
