Is the Equities Party Over?

This is an excellent, excellent piece! Whenever one tries to prognosticate the future, one may end up looking foolish -- its all a probability game. However, this article is not about predicting the future, but how vigalent one must be over the next year because the next 12 months will be pivotal. Thats what this article convinced me of.

Sirius, XM: Price Targets and Expectations

I am really getting the feeling that this deal is not going to get approved, as most parties expect. A source of mine at the FCC tells me that the FCC is actively working with various state attorney generals to once and for all ax this deal

Sirius Opportunity in Satellite Radio

What is taking the FCC so long! What a waste of an education for a young lawyer to spend such an inordinate amount of time on something that should have been decided six months ago. This is why few persons want to go into government service.

CITI: $8 Target on Sirius

I really do not think this merger is getting done. The FCC does not want to make a decision and will pocket veto their decision. By July this will force SIRI to reluctantly withdraw their bid. Chaulk one up for the lobbying efforts of the "babel radio", over the air radio industry. The biggest losers are consumers like me who hate over the air non-stop commercial radio.

Wells Fargo (WFC) will become the largest U.S. bank by branches with its bid for Wachovia (WB), after Citigroup (C) withdrew from compromise negotiations late yesterday on concerns about the quality of some of Wachovia's assets. Wells Fargo, with a bid valued at $11.4B, expects the purchase to be completed by the end of the year, and denies it will have to absorb assets shakier than originally thought. Government considers next steps. As the financial crisis continues to worsen, the U.S. government is considering two dramatic steps to turn around, or at least slow, the damage: guaranteeing billions of dollars in bank debt and temporarily insuring all U.S. bank deposits. The moves, which would mark the government's most extensive intervention to date, are in discussion stages only. Credit stays frozen. As frozen credit markets refuse to thaw, the cost of default protection on corporate bonds reaches new global records amid investor concerns the credit crisis will trigger corporate failures as companies struggle to finance their businesses. Interbank lending remains limited, and borrowing from the Fed's expanded discount window continued its trend of setting new highs every week, as the total daily average rose to $420.2B vs. $367.8B last week. Computer Sciences (CSC) -- This is a company that was going to be bought, but they passed up the chance. Now I don't want to buy it."
