      Motorola's Train Wreck
I had a MOT cell phone a few years ago that couldn't make a reliable connection to the charger. As an electrical engineer I can only assume incompetence is the reason for failing such a simple thing. I never bought another MOT cell phone and most likely never will.

The Brightest Stars in the Commodities Boom, Part Two
I suspected hybrids were just a bunch of hype until I rented one on a trip. After driving for what seemed like an enormous distance on the first tank, I decided to check the milage. The next tank was mostly slow in city and traffic jam driving, and I got a little over 60 mpg. The third tank was mostly freeway driving over 80 mph, and I got just over 40 mpg.

"The aluminum industry claims that every pound of aluminum used in a car reduces carbon-dioxide emissions by 20 pounds over a hundred miles"
At 20mpg, 5 gal is burned every 100 miles.
Each gallon of gasoline has 5.3 Lb carbon, or 19.4 Lb CO2 when burned, for 97 Lb CO2 per 100 miles
So... adding 4.85Lb aluminum to my car will reduce my CO2 emmissions to zero (which must mean my milage increased to infinity! Praise the aluminum industry. The energy problems are solved! (but my current car has probably 30-50 Lb of aluminum in the engine, Vs zero Lb for my old 69 Mustang, which got 15 mpg - looks like that claim is BS)
