Is Lehman in the Midst of a Bear Stearns-like Meltdown?
Well said and in verbage I can understand on one pass.
While the braintrust at LEH has already picked a fall gal
for the job of layering lies and dreaming up more language
for the lazy......the Fed, again, will not let this outfit fail.
"You wanted the big bucks sis......now show 'em your stuff !"
Nothing less than Devil's Island is suitable for these fakes.
"Hey !!! There's always the Fed. "But your spokesman (and
with a fiduciary role) said........
Colfax IPO Should Get Your Liquids Flowing
Your analysis is pure "GOLD". All too many will simply "take a flyer"
thinking of nothing but someone else ( CFX ) doing the work as
they fall into a great space these days.
Many thanks and I would be further indebted if you cared to
share your latest ideas........

commodity.
Sure, you go into CICOF @ 4.00 and know you have to buy a
"boatload" for the trade to pay.
Pink Sheets ? Now who is watching the store ?
I'm going to put this on my watchlist, however, and if the
stock gathers the same sentiment as the author ....it
ain't too late.

The Humble Arithmetic of Portfolio Management
1.What do you consider "actively managed" ?
2.How old is the "client".
3.Are we asking about the power of the 401K and the like.
4.The power of cost averaging over time.
5.Being certain that you or your investor novice is watching
the activity within a fund....mind you not critisizing holdings
that may be off or sleeping better as the top % holdings are
hot.
With re-invested dividends and monthly contributions into a Roth
or Traditional IRA or both, a good fund, time tested, would
have the donor wish he/she never heard of bonds muchless
60/40.You want bonds ? Buy convertibles debentures with a
minor stake.
Great piece and all prosper.

A Look at Earnings from Transocean and Devon
in a big way.Give you a reason ? The fundamentals in
crude have not really changed.
Why not last year or '06 ? And what has changed ? Nothing
except for the lust not to let, what has become a historic
up-tick escape the locals......and companies who never hedged
are now doing so.
Sure, crude could vault to $200 or better while this new frontier
has to contend with itself on "what next".
The mere fact that pricing on great stocks like RIG et al are intractably tied to the commodity itself gives me pause to
think about the dog and it's tail.Always been this way ?
Uh Uh !!!!!!!
And what a technical picture on the very basics P:E, Income,
etc.
When crude does start back to real per barrel pricing the
exodus will be worse than a fire at the disco......
Anything concrete to offer the respected participants ?
Absolutely none...it just seems as if I've seen this movie before.
In any case I hope the longs prosper ...me ? I just have a
ticket to the show.

Commodity Conundrum Solved: The Hidden Parameter in Interest Rates
fundamental view while Mr.Hamou is trying to relate to two movements apart and, of course, effect.
Mr.Hamou may be on to something but the piece lacks any real
testing from past action.

Tech Stocks to Lead the New Bull Market Higher
assume that any "thinking" by the investor went into
the process.
Would it not be grand if the daily volume were delineated
by who was responsible for sell trading: Hedge Funds, Margin
Calls, Mutual Funds, Option Players, etc., etc.
Were that information available the data would aid immensly
those who believe in the long term merits of their holdings,
especially the high volume stocks we see at the top of the
daily action.
Then again, that scenario would effect those of sound mind
from scooping up the over-sold.......and that is one wonderful
way of beating the knot heads while adding on a "Fire Sale"
price.
The cases cited are a wonderful example and in my case I
was delighted to pick up SGP after the knee jerk sell off.
I have used that selection process to add, without trepidation,
and I'm off to the next one.
This missive is not about me but something for the Alpha
Community to explore and make life a bit easier in what
seems to be a senseless process at times.
Mosaic, CF Industries: Fertilizer Stocks in a Bull Trend
And IMHO:
"Overweight" is the most mis-used term analysts could ever
use.
In it's proper context and used as one would classify a
plane, ship, or freight car "Overweight" is an onerous
classification and not those with the right sense of
balance would employ.
In defining one's holdings wouldn't you rather use the
shop worn but more desirable "well balanced in growth
and value" ?
And back to MOS etc., if one is to believe the need in
the U.S. (fill er up......ethanol please) and abroad especially
India,China etc. the citizenry has already begun to riot
over shortages in rice,bread,feed.......
Thus the head on need for potash in the soil is no longer speculative nor is it brief.
Yours truly,
Tom

off patent in '08 (I believe but shortly in any event).

Market Crash Imminent: Get Out While You Can
This "Carry Trade" talk is an unmeasurable "potentia"l effect.
From the words of a Specialist: "I see no reason to be long so
I will simply sell into any rally."
And that was uttered in early October.
Me? I'm like any schmo who is long "quality growth" and want these
shorts squashed like a grape.

Pessimism Has the Upper Hand - Again
Well done !!!!!!!!
Certainly the housing market and the endless attendant industries
that will suffer are on the top of the water.
Now we add to that obvious set of fears the talk and reality
of outsourcing to Banglador, the U.S. debt held by China etc.
(not an issue to this writer),the Hedge Fund bogeymen and
the public awareness of their mortality, and suddenly the sky
is falling causing defensive measures by "the pros" who have
finally realized that sledge hammer maneuvers don't frighten
any longer ............
"Liquidity" ? What liquidity ? Joe Six Pack is at the ball park never to see or even discuss his participation except to lift one and
say "Shhhhhhh !" or "I told you so !!!!"
